The Season’s Best Palazzo Pants For Under $60

We all have (and need) black pants. They’re a wardrobe staple that work for every situation, from interview to after hours and even, in a pinch, weddings. But just because they’re perfect for more buttoned-up situations, there’s no reason they can’t relax a little. This season, we’re opting for a flowing, swingy pair of palazzo pants in deep dark black and nearly black navy.

Think you can’t pull this silhouette off? Think again. They’re as easy (and as comfortable) as wearing your pajamas. With your favorite silk blouse and pumps, palazzos are a work-to-play no-brainer. Dress them up with a fitted blazer (or go full Tilda Swinton with a boxy menswear-inspired topper) and you’ve got an outfit worthy of the flashbulbs.

MAC and Proenza Schouler Come Together for Makeup Must-Haves

MAC Proenza Schouler

It takes a lot for a beauty collaboration to make waves these days, but when one of fashion’s biggest names teams with a brand that’s available just about everywhere, it’s reason to celebrate. Proenza Schouler (who are no strangers to collaboration, having done a collection for Target and a special limited-edition eye shadow with Shiseido in the past) is teaming with MAC Cosmetics for a tightly edited selection of beauty bag staples that’ll have their coterie of downtown girls lining up — even the ones that are too cool might just deign to put their names on a waiting list. The collection, which will arrive online stores on March 27, is all about essentials. Must-haves? We’ll say it — each and every item is something you definitely need in your collection.

€œWe love color, it€™s a huge part of what we do,” Proenza Schouler co-designer Jack McCullough told Vogue. “But because we go so heavy on it with the clothes, we€™ve tried to keep the makeup fresh, to give it a nonchalance. It€™s a bit of a balancing act.€

MAC Proenza Schouler

So instead of bulking up their capsule collection with extras such as faux lashes, another mascara — after all, what girl isn’t already devoted to a certain formula? — or re-packaged MAC favorites, the MAC Proenza Schouler collection edits everything down to essentials. You’ve got the perfect  polishes, a few universally flattering lipsticks, eyeliners and ombr© blushes that’ll have beauty bloggers clamoring but are still be easy enough to use so that everyone can get highlighting and contouring down without a master class.

€œWe€™re around a lot of girls a lot of the time.

We know what they€™re into,€ says Lazaro Hernandez, Proenza Schouler co-designer. €œThey€™re working all day, then they put on a heel and red lipstick, and for some reason, those two things make you ready for evening. It€™s amazing.€

One thing that always makes a collab even more swoon-worthy is the packaging, and this one’s got an X factor that you can’t deny. The shades pull right from the Proenza Schouler archives, blending green, yellow and purple hues together on the outside of lipstick bullets, compacts and even on the a brush handle. It’s something that will stand out from the rest of the crowd, which is exactly what a Proenza Schouler girl does. The collection’s perfect for no-makeup girls that just want a little bit of a finishing touch and die-hard beauty junkies, too. Don’t believe us? When these compacts start making their way to eBay, they’ll be just as covetable as those beloved PS11 bags.

The MAC Proenza Schouler collection will be available online and in select stores March 27.
