Backstage Beauty: NARS x 3.1 Phillip Lim is Polished Perfection

3.1 Phillip Lim for NARS

NARS and 3.1 Phillip Lim have had a long relationship — 14 seasons to be exact — so it’s about time that Lim teamed with the beauty brand for something all his own instead of just relying on the brand’s cult-fave products to make his models glow. The designer’s Fall 2014 collection included patchwork fur and leather coats, covetable separates and the usual slick, urban clothes that have earned him one of the most loyal followings in fashion, but the announcement of a collaboration with NARS is what’s sure to bring in a slew of new fans.

The runway show marked the debut of a single polish from the 3.1 Phillip Lim for NARS collection, a deep blue called Crossroads, but the entire collection of polishes (there are nine shades in total) is set to debut this August.

€œIt’s time to ‘rock the casbah’ this fall,” said Francelle Daly, NARS makeup artist and longtime collaborator with Phillip Lim.

“A bold, angled brow, clean eyelids and slightly sculpted cheeks give a bit of new wave punk inspiration.”

In addition to the polishes, Daly used cult-fave Nars products such as the brand’s Radiant Creamy Concealer and blushes in Zen and Nico to create a fresh, clean face. We’ll be sure to report on the full 3.1 Phillip Lim for NARS collection when the full color range becomes available, but for now, we can assure you the shades will be in line with Lim’s signature style.
