Menswear Goes Green For Spring

Designers went green for guys this spring, but not all guys will be green with envy at this trend.

At Steven Alan, New York’s preppy-downtown mixmaster, a model wore kelly green pants with a turquoise shirt. This requires much bravery off the runway. While that color combo isn’t for the faint of heart, other designers showed more wearable versions of the verdant pants. Green showed up at Shipley & Halmos in a more dusty khaki hue and at J. Crew, more muted green pants were perfectly paired with a navy blazer and a sailor sweater for an off-duty Nantucket shoreman vibe that we’ll be eager to adopt come spring.

Erickson Beamon Teams with LeSportsac for a Glam Holiday Collaboration

Erickson Beamon for LeSportsac

Last season, jewelry mega-brand Erickson Beamon teamed with LeSportsac for a special collection of bags and travel accessories that made haute holiday travel a reality and not just a fantasy dressed in velour sweatsuit. The collection was so popular that the brands have teamed up again for a holiday collection that brings together bags and baubles all over again, giving girls everywhere one more reason to pick up some new arm candy.

Founded in 1983 by Michigan natives Karen Erickson and Eric Erickson, Erickson Beamon has the distinct honor of having dressed both Lady Gaga and the First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama. Taking that into mind, the brand’s collaboration with LeSportsac has something for everyone. The first collection included bold prints and solids, travel bags and everyday accessories pouches that fit inside your go-to work tote, all infused with Erickson Beamon’s brand of over-the-top glam.

“It was so important to incorporate signature elements of Erickson Beamon into this collection. I had so much fun. I love textiles and it€™s no surprise that I love to play with proportion and color,” said Karen Erickson. “I enlarged images of the jewelry to create my own prints. The result is at once photo-realistic and somewhat abstract.”

For holiday, there are three new prints and a new shape for LeSportsac.

Prints include Duchess of Fabulous, a photorealistic digital print of gems and baubles exploded in macro, giving a glam makeover to LeSportsac’s signature nylon. Fans of more sedate accessories will love the debossed, ballet-inspired Ballet Diamond collection while glamazons will surely flock to the placement-printed collection, which adorns bags and pouches with necklaces of their own. In addition to bags, Erickson Beamon and LeSportsac have teamed up for a special printed scarf.

“LeSportsac holds a dear place in my heart. My mother loved it! She worked in little special store in Michigan, where I come from, in the 70€™s when I was kid,” adds Beamon. “They started selling LeSportsac and she was so excited about it.  She brought home the garment bag and all of the bags. She loved the product and shared that love with me. I€™ve always loved LeSportsac!”

Travel buffs love LeSportsac for lightweight, travel-friendly options — trust us, theses bags can take a beating — so shapes such as a large duffel, a mini backpack and garment bag are the perfect addition to your holiday travel plans. Plus, the entire collection of nylon bags fold up into basically nothing, so if you find that you’ve overzealously anticipated the number of presents you need to schlep home, they’ll fit perfectly into your other luggage.

Save Steal Splurge: Mirrored Aviator Sunglasses

Sunglass styles come and go, but certain frames are always in fashion. Wayfarers? They’re not going anywhere, even if you’re sick of seeing them. Aviators? Another classic. But if you want to give an iconic frame a twist, the easiest way to do it is to add a little bit of detail. That’s why we’re loving classic aviators with mirrored lenses. And if that’s not enough, designers are adding more to the mirrored finish with bold, bright colors.

They’re a little bit retro — hello, Endless Summer — and add a major update to your sunglass game.
