’80s Artist Patrick Nagel Rises Again In a Collab with L.A. Label Huf
Her name is Rio and she dances on the sand. She’s been dancing since the ’80s without signs of ever stopping. How? Patrick Nagel’s iconic Duran Duran cover is still burned into the world’s collective psyche, so Rio lives on, even if her tune stops playing on the radio. Well, she has reason to celebrate, because Nagel’s work is getting a whole new audience aside from ladies who frequent certain nail salons. L.A.-based Huf has teamed with the Nagel estate for a new collection of clothing, accessories and more, all celebrating the artist’s totally ’80s graphic illustrations.
Nagel isn’t just known for his work with Duran Duran, but also Playboy, Intel, Lucky Strike cigarettes and more. There’s even a whole collection of his prints in the Library of Congress. Plus, there’s not that many artists that can rep both nail salons and highbrow culture. Now instead of just admiring these ladies from a massaging pedi chair, you can add a Nagel to your closet.

Huf’s collection features a selection of graphics that perfectly illustrate the artist’s style.
Prices start at just $12 for a set of pins, so even the most conservative dresser can add dash of ’80s spice, and tops out at $190. While this collab might not have the fervor of high-low designer team-ups, this one hits squarely at the intersection of street and nostalgia. Let everyone else throw elbows, we’ll be chilling out with these babes.
