H&M and David Beckham Expand their Partnership with Modern Essentials
This spring, David Beckham is bringing more than just a new range of underwear for guys at H&M. He’s continuing his partnership — it’s one of the most successful collabs for the Swedish fast fashion retailer — but he’s also expanding outside of the bodywear that he’s known for. With the introduction of Modern Essentials Selected by David Beckham, he’s giving guys a piece of his own personal style and choosing his favorite, ahem, favourite, pieces from the new season.
I am thrilled to continue and extend my collaboration with H&M by selecting my favourite pieces from this springs Modern Essentials collection,” says David Beckham. “Each piece is a new wardrobe classic that will update every mans spring wardrobe with great style. Marc Forster is one of my favourite directors I cant wait to reveal the new campaign with H&M.”
Instead of designing the pieces himself, Beckham chose select pieces from H&M’s Modern Essentials collection that he saw as staples for the everyday guy. His picks include a denim car coat, a white denim jacket, a piped polo and an inky linen suit along with classic sweatshirts, poplin shirting and a nautical striped sweater.
But he’s not abandoning his design duties with H&M.
And continuing the tradition of working with great film directors fo the campaigns, Beckham and H&M teamed with Marc Forster, known for his work on Quantum of Solace, World War Z, Monster’s Ball and The Kite Runner. The photos feature Becks in a London warehouse modeling his picks and stripped down to his essentials for the bodywear campaign.
“Most of us are familiar with David’s innate sense of style and design, however it was his acute eye for cinematic storytelling that struck me during the filming of this campaign,” says Marc Forster. “He doesn’t make H&M clothing look good, he makes it look great.”
