Roland Mouret Teams with Banana Republic for a Sexy Capsule Collection
San Francisco-based Banana Republic continues its beloved collaborations with a new collection from French designer Roland Mouret. Known for dressing the curves of Victoria Beckham and Kate Middleton in his body-hugging Galaxy Dress, the designer is lending his signature body-con designs and figure-flattering LBDs to the retailer. Available online and in stores August 7, the Roland Mouret for Banana Republic Collection will include plenty of cocktail-ready dresses as well as accessories and more in a mostly-black palette — though there are pops of pink and blue, too — that fits in perfectly with Banana Republic’s desk-to-dinner ethos.
Partnering with Banana Republic on this project was such an adventure for me, says Roland Mouret, founder and designer of his eponymous label. The common goal for this collection is to offer incredible fit through an assortment of svelte styles using Banana Republics Sloan fabric, extending my love of structure and silhouette into accessible prices. These pieces are multi-functional for the modern woman to wear and accessorize in her own way, making her always ready for lifes journey.
The Roland Mouret for Banana Republic Collection builds on the foundation set by the retailer’s Sloan collection, which has already gained a loyal fan base thanks to the comfort and cut of the Sloan bi-stretch fabric.
Im so inspired by Rolands skill for draping and attention to fit, says Banana Republic Vice President of Womens Design, Melloney Birkett. He has such a strong sense of how to dress a woman, and brings a beautiful sensuality to his work. Rolands vision really matched ours as we worked together to use his design expertise as a build to Banana Republics Sloan fabric to create a truly covetable collection.
The collection will incorporate colorblocking, perforated details, leopard prints, Mouret’s signature svelte cuts on blazers, pencil skirts and sure-to-sell-out sheath dresses. Petite styles will also be available when the collection launches. Prices will start at $49.50 for accessories up to $165 for a dress, which is a veritable steal considering that Mouret’s main line rings up in the neighborhood of $2,000.
