Stephen Curry is Express’ First Men’s Ambassador

Stephen Curry for Express Men

Stephen Curry, the Golden State Warriors’ point guard, has been announced as the very first brand ambassador for Express menswear. He joins the ranks of Kate Upton, who does the same for the brand’s women’s offerings. And Curry is not only the first athlete to sign a deal with the brand, it’s the very first time that Express has put a face to its men’s offerings, which include everything from denim and polo shirts to suiting and accessories.

“I shopped there even before this opportunity,” Curry told WWD. “When I got the call, it made perfect sense. Express is already in my closet.”

The position is set to last through the end of 2015 and Curry will be tasked with appearing in print advertisements (no word yet on whether or not he’ll be posing with Upton) throughout the year as well as Express’ social media feeds for spring and summer as well as the back-to-school and holiday campaigns.

Curry has been singled out by GQ and ESPN for his personal style off the court, which leans towards classic tailored pieces such as sport coats and trousers in navies, whites and grays — it’s a style that guys across the country can relate to, even if their offices aren’t basketball courts.

The Express website has already integrated Curry’s picks and pulled them into a special microsite, Express + Stephen Curry. There, shoppers can find twill blazers, the brand’s cult-favorite 1MX shirt and even a tuxedo that Curry’s singled out as his favorite pieces for spring.

“I’m going to be walking into the stadiums, with a nice smile, feeling good about myself in Express,” Curry said in a statement. “It’s a huge honor for me being the first male in their history to represent the brand. It’s pretty crazy when you think about it.”
