Gwen Stefani Teams with Urban Decay for the Ultraviolet Edge

Gwen Stefani

Orange County’s Urban Decay Cosmetics has teamed with fellow OC native Gwen Stefani to launch the Ultraviolet Edge, a philanthropic initiative that’s working with global organizations all over the world so that they can pursue their passions and embrace their individuality. It all kicks off with Eyeshadow Primer Potion, Urban Decay’s signature product, in a limited edition matte shade. All proceed from the sale will go to the Women’s Global Empowerment Fund, which provides micro loans, literacy programs, and business and leadership training to women in Uganda.

Urban Decay Primer Potion in Enigma

With the sale of just three tubes of Urban Decay Primer Potion in Enigma ($20), a woman’s life can change forever. And Wende Zomnir, who established Urban Decay back in 1996, knows all about chasing her dreams and following her instinct.

When Urban Decay launched, department stores were filled with neutrals, pinks and reds. She changed all that when she launched deep, edgy colors and unexpected finishes, changing the world of beauty in her wake. She wants to give the ability to change an entire industry to women everywhere. Teaming with the Women’s Global Empowerment Fund is just the beginning in creating strong, independent business owners all over the world.

€œLike us, she has a history of breaking down barriers,€ Zomnir said of Stefani in a release. €œWe dig Gwen€™s innate ability to set trends and defy expectations. She also shares our passion for empowering women, and will help give this initiative the attention it deserves.€

Teaming with Stefani was a natural choice — the two babes are OC girls, remember — and go way back. In the mid ’90s when both Urban Decay and No Doubt were just getting started, Stefani extolled her love of the shade Gash, one of Urban Decay’s original lipsticks.

And instead of just starring in promotional photos, Stefani will be working with Zomnir and Urban Decay to increase awareness for the Ultraviolet Edge, encouraging fans of her music and unique style as well as beauty junkies everywhere to make a change in the world. Together, the power duo of Stefani and Urban Decay hope to raise $500,000 this year and $3 million in the next five years for women’s charities worldwide.
